The Clínic welcomes EANS Summer School’s nursing doctorate students

On Monday July 6 took place the Welcoming Ceremony at the Hospital Clínic for the students of nursing Ph doctorate of the EANS (European Academy of Nursing Science) Summer School, in the first edition of these studies to be held in Spain. The freshmen, who are in Barcelona since June 29th, met their colleagues of  second and third who started their studies that day, being in total more than 100 people from 24 different countries attending the ceremony in the beautiful framework of  the Auditorium of the UB Faculty of Medicine.

Gene-editing technique offers hope for hereditary diseases

Researchers from Hospital Clinic, IDIBAPS, Hospital Sant Joan de Deu of Barcelona and the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), have participated in a study led by scientists from the Salk Institute in La Jolla (California) where  molecular “scissors” have been used to remove mitochondrial mutations in mouse eggs cells. The study, led by Dr. Juan Carlos Izpisúa-Belmonte, Professor professor in Salk’s Gene Expression Laboratory, was published yesterday in the presitgious journal Cell.

The Clínic-UB Campus of the Josep Carreras Research Institute has been inaugurated

Last September 5th, the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona hosted the opening ceremony of the laboratories and facilities of the Clinic-UB Campus of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute with the aim of achieving that leukaemia become, one day, 100% curable.
