Dr. Eduard Batlle explains the complexities of Colorectal Cancer in an IDIBAPS Seminar

Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is one of the leading causes of death by cancer worldwide. Dr. Eduard Batlle leads the Oncology Program and the Colorectal Cancer Laboratory at the Barcelona’s Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB), where they study the initiation of CRC and its progression from the early stages to the formation of invasive tumors. On Monday June 17th he offered an IDIBAPS Seminar titled “Understanding Colorectal Cancer as a Stem Cell hierarchy”. The Seminar was presented by Dr. Cristina Nadal, IDIBAPS investigator at the Molecular and translational oncology team that collaborated with Dr. Batlle in some of the results he presented. The Seminar turned out to be one of the recent sessions with the highest participation from the audience.

Clínic and IDIBAPS participate in a record Marató

La Marató of TV3 (Catalan Telethon), this year dedicated to cancer, got on December 16 a new record of participation and collection. The 2,000 popular activities and the 10,113,152 euros collected, accounts the best results achieved since the first edition in 1992. The Hospital Clínic and the IDIBAPS, supported the initiative by the organization of various disclosures and some collecting donations. In addition to this, professionals from Clínic and from IDIBAPS like: Dr. Laura Vidal, gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Salvadora Delgado, surgeon, or Dr. Crisitina Nadal, oncologist too, participated in the TV3 program, appearing at different moments to disclose about cancer.

Dr. Joan Seoane presents an IDIBAPS Seminar

El Dr. Joan Seoane durant el Seminari IDIBAPS

Dr. Joan Seoane visited IDIBAPS last June 4 to present a seminar entitled “Intra-tumor heterogeneity in glioblastoma“. The speaker has a long history of collaboration with IDIBAPS, and currently is Director of the Translational Research Program at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO). The talk was hosted by Dr. Cristina Nadal, researcher from IDIBAPS – Hospital and a regular collaborator of Dr. Seoane.
