The IDIBAPS participates in BIO-Europe Spring

The Barcelona International Convention Center hosted from 20-22 March the BIO-Europe Spring conference. This is the most important partnering congress in Europe for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Attendees had 3 days to hold 30-minute private meetings with other international managers and business developers, from other institutions and companies around the world.

BIO-Europe Spring is taking place in Barcelona from 11th to 13th March. It is the springtime counterpart to BIO-Europe, Europe’s largest partnering conference serving the global biotechnology industry. The technical conference Challenges and Risks of Research on Advanced Therapies brings together more than a hundred scientists, companies and professionals to analyze the current status and future prospects of research in advanced therapies. The meeting, held on Friday January 20 in the IDIBAPS ‘ CEK building and jointly organized by Biocat and the Cell Therapy Program (TCUB) of the UB Faculty of Medicine, is part of the thematic meetings organized periodically by Biocat to discuss on emerging scientific and technological topics of interest.

Malaria Vaccine Candidate Shows Long-term Efficacy in Mozambican children

A study published in the August 1 issue of the Journal of Infectious Diseases has shown for the first time that RTS,S, the world’s most clinically advanced malaria vaccine candidate, maintains protection during a 45 month follow-up period. The study conducted in 2022 Mozambican children age 1-4 years demonstrates that the RTS,S/AS02 vaccine is capable of reducing clinical episodes of malaria by 30 percent and severe malaria cases by 38 percent for at least 45 months following its administration.
