Professor at the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Andreu Mas-Colell, encourages researchers from IDIBAPS to “apply for an European Research Council (ERC) grant given the high scientific level in this institution”. Professor Mas-Colell made these remarks during the inaugural conference of the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of IDIBAPS on Monday 30th May.

IDIBAPS hosts the conference “Strategy in Horizon 2020- Social Challenge 1: Health, demographic change and well-being”
On Monday June 8, nearly 100 representatives of companies, research institutions, hospitals, universities and health sector administrations attended the conference Horizon 2020 Strategy – Health; Reto Social 1 “Health, Demographic Change and wellness”. With the aim to discuss about the strategy and the current and future and positioning around the Social Challenge 1in the Horizon 2020 programme, there were also presented other funding opportunities under the same programme for Health sector entities or other related institutions. The Centre for theDevelopment of Industrial Technology (CDTI), IDIBAPS together with both ACCIO and AGAUR from the Catalan Government, organizedtheconferencewithin the framework of the Health Connect-EU Group.
IDIBAPS has been recognized with the HR Excellence in Research label, within the framework of the action Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) of the European Commission (EC). This award is granted to research institutions that voluntarily implement improvements to their HR practices to get closer to the principles set out in the European Charter and Code for Researchers.
Hospital Clínic and the BBVA Foundation announce the launch of a health portal providing reliable information in Spanish, which will also be brought within the care process
Hospital Clínic de Barcelona will put its expertise at citizens’ fingertips through a new health portal in collaboration with the BBVA Foundation. This project is the latest initiative to emerge from the close relationship maintained by the two organizations for over ten years.
Last September 5th, the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona hosted the opening ceremony of the laboratories and facilities of the Clinic-UB Campus of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute with the aim of achieving that leukaemia become, one day, 100% curable.
Today has been presented at the City Council of Barcelona the AIS Channel (Advances in Surgery), a project created with the aim of sharing the latest modifications in surgical technique with working professionals, as well as training those of tomorrow. It is an initiative promoted by the team of Dr. Antonio M. Lacy, head of gastrointestinal surgery at Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, who is renowned worldwide for its pioneering innovations in minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Lacy presented the project with two managers from Olympus, Ramon Martori and Frank Drewalowski. Xavier Trias, Mayor of Barcelona, closed the presentation.
