Dr. Francisco Cervantes is the author of the 2015 most read article in Blood journal

How I treat myelofibrosis” is the title of the 2015 most read article in Blood, the official journal of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the publication with the highest impact factor (10.452) in this field. The author is Dr. Francisco Cervantes, Senior Consultant at the Hematology Department in Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and head of the IDIBAPS research team Hematological oncology. Since its publication in late 2014 this scientific article has been read more than 35,000 times and has remained as the paper with more visits on the journal website for eight consecutive months, which is a record.

Dr. de la Rocha receives 2 million euros from the ERC for the study of neural mechanisms

Dr. Jaime de la Rocha, head of Cortical Circuit Dynamics research group at IDIBAPS, will receive €2 million over the next five years to strengthen his research on neuronal circuit mechanisms. These funds come from the European Research Council (ERC), which has published the Consolidator grants for 302 top researchers in Europe. This is the first time IDIBAPS receives one of this prestigious ERC grants.

Physicians from Hospital Clinic and IDIBAPS awarded with the COMB Professional Excellence Award 2015

Yesterday the Professional Excellence Awards 2015 were awarded by the Col·legi Oficial de Metges de Barcelona (COMB) to physicians in recognition to their career. In the present edition, six professionals working at Hospital Clínic and IDIBAPS have been awarded.

Dr. Josep Dalmau, new member of the National Academy of Medicine of the United States

Dr. Josep Dalmau, ICREA researcher at IDIBAPS, where leads the  Autoimmune Pathogenesis of Neuronal Diseases group, Professor of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania and Associate Researcher at the National Institute of Health (NIH) has been elected new member of the National Academy Medicine (NAM) of the United States. Election to the academy is one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service. Together with Dr. Dalmau, nine professionals were elected on October 19th as new international members of the NAM.

Dr. Jordi Bruix, new Scientific Director of the Networked Biomedical Research Center for Hepatic and Digestive Diseases

Dr. Jordi Bruix, group leader of the Networked Biomedical Research Center for Hepatic and Digestive Diseases (CIBEREHD) at Hospital Clínic and IDIBAPS, has been appointed CIBEREHD Scientific Director on the CIBER Standing Committee (dependent on the Carlos III Health Institute) held this morning. Dr. Bruix succeeds Dr. Jaume Bosch, also from the Hospital Clinic of  and the IDIBAPS, who occupied this position since 2006.

Dr. Marc Claret receives a BBVA Foundation Grant for Researchers and Culture Creators

Dr. Marc Claret, head of the IDIBAPS group Neural Control of Metabolism, has received one of 63 BBVA Foundation Grants to Researchers and Culture Creators in the 2015 edition. The project of Dr. Claret is focused in finding molecular alterations in certain brain circuits, specifically in the hypothalamus, involved in the development of obesity and diabetes.
