Gisela Sugranyes awarded with a NARSAD Young Investigator Grant

The Brain and Behaviour Research Foundation has awarded a research grant to Gisela Sugranyes, 50/50 researcher at the Multimodal neuroimaging in high risk and early psychosis IDIBAPS research team. The ‘NARSAD 2017 Young Investigator Grant’ is endowed with 70,000 for two years and is one of the most prestigious awards given to young researchers in the field of neuroscience. In this case, the funds will be used in the study of psychosis, specifically in determining the role played by an alteration in glutamatergic transmission in the clinical and cognitive manifestations of the disorder. Aleix Prat, named Board Member of the Breast International Group

Dr. Aleix Prat, Head of the Clinical Oncology Department at Hospital Clínic and of the Translational genomics and targeted therapeutics in solid tumors research team at IDIBAPS, has been named member of the Executive Board of the Breast International Group (BIG). The BIG is an international non-profit organisation that includes more than 56 cooperative groups from around the world, more than 10,000 experts and it is linked to more than 3,000 hospitals. Its main goal is to promote clinical and translational research in breast cancer. The appointment, which represents a recognition to his professional career in this field, took place during the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) held in June 2-6 in Chicago. Josep Dalmau, awarded with the Rey Jaime I prize in the Clinical Medicine category

Dr. Josep Dalmau, Professor ICREA at IDIBAPS, where he leads the clinical and experimental Neuroimmunology team, and consultant of the Neurology Department at Hospital Clínic, has been awarded the Rey Jaime I Prize in the Clinical Medicine category . Dr. Dalmau is also a professor in the Department of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona (UB). Josep Dalmau, Chair of the new Autoimmune Neurology Section in the American Academy of Neurology

Dr. Josep Dalmau

Dr. Josep Dalmau, ICREA Professor of IDIBAPS, where he leads the Group Pathogenesis of autoimmune neuronal disorders, and consultant of the Neurology Department of Hospital Clínic, has been named Chair of the Autoimmune Neurology Section in the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). It is a newly created section that wants to differentiate itself from the classic concept of neuroimmunology, more linked to other types of diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis. The founders of the section are Drs. Sean Pittock, of the Mayo Clinic, and Jeffrey Gelfand, of the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Read the rest of this entry »
