The Surgical Area gives an award of 750 euros to S.O.S. Refugiats

The professionals of the Surgical Area of the Clínic announced the implementation of the Lean methodology, which is based on the reduction of waste and improvement of patient flow, to the XIII Days of Management and Evaluation in Health of the Signo Foundation . The Evaluation Committee of the conference decided to award them the prize for the best communication, endowed with 750 euros. The Surgical Area has decided to donate the money to the solidarity project developped at Clinic and Sant Joan de Déu, S.O.S. Refugiats, whose goal is to send health workers to care for migrants who have been forced to flee conflict or poverty. Read the rest of this entry »

IDIBAPS participates in the 10th edition of Escolab

On March 2nd and 9th IDIBAPS participated in Escolab 2016, an initiative of the Barcelona City Council that encourages students in secondary education to discover the world of research as well as to find their scientific vocation. This year the IES Pedraforca, from Hospitalet de Llobregat, and IES Montserrat and Sagrat Cor Sarrià School, both from Barcelona, participated in the activity organized by the IDIBAPS.

Escolab 2015 at IDIBAPS: a route through research laboratories

On March 10th IDIBAPS participated in Escolab 2015, an initiative of the Barcelona City Council that encourages students in secondary education to discover the world of research as well as to find their scientific vocation. This year the IES Montserrat, from Barcelona, participated in the activity organized by the IDIBAPS.

Art and science meet in the book Sketching científic IDIBAPS

The art of urban natural drawing, or sketching, is a social and artistic phenomenon gaining adherents worldwide at great speed. The IDIBAPS has promoted over the past year, several activities to publicize the research that is carried out in the laboratories daily, through this artistic side. On November 20th, as part of Science Week in Catalonia, it was presented the final result of this project: the book Sketching científic IDIBAPS, the result of the two workshops in scientific sketching that have been carried out, one with professional Sketchers and the other, open to citizens.

IDIBAPS researchers receive 11 grants from the TV3 Telethon about neurodegenerative diseases

The TV3 Telethon Foundation celebrated yesterday evening a ceremony to present the projects selected to be funded by the 2013 edition dedicated to neurodegenerative diseases. The more than 11 million euro collected in the last edition have been distributed in 44 research projects, which have passed a rigorous evaluation process. Eleven of the chosen projects correspond to researchers from IDIBAPS, and therefore it becomes the institution that coordinates the greater number of projects in this edition. TV3’s Telethon 2012 dedicated to cancer will fund seven IDIBAPS projects

The TV3 Telethon Foundation held this evening a ceremony at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park, where they presented the projects selected to be funded by the TV3 Telethon 2012 (Marató de TV3), dedicated to cancer. This initiative, which combines scientific divulgation and fundraising, is an effort of the Catalan TV station which annually, since 1992, discovers the best of society and research institutions. In its last edition it collected over 12 milion euros, now distributed in 42 research projects which underwent a rigorous evaluation process. Here we present the seven IDIBAPS projects chosen to be funded.
