Presentation of the channel in advanced surgery, AIS Channel, at Barcelona’s City Council

Today has been presented at the City Council of Barcelona the AIS Channel (Advances in Surgery), a project created with the aim of sharing the latest modifications in surgical technique with working professionals, as well as training those of tomorrow. It is an initiative promoted by the team of Dr. Antonio M. Lacy, head of gastrointestinal surgery at Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, who is renowned worldwide for its pioneering innovations in minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Lacy presented the project with two managers from Olympus, Ramon Martori and Frank Drewalowski. Xavier Trias, Mayor of Barcelona, closed the presentation.

AIS Channel is an interactive platform to communicate advances in the various surgical specialties and uses all the currently available technologies to share them for free with the users. It is addressed to surgeons in all specialties, medical students and residents, nurses and operating room staff and surgical technology specialists interested in the latest global surgical treatments.

The content of the channel is structured in four sections: Congresses, where the user can attend live HD broadcast of the conference with specialists from around the world; society, a section were upcoming events are announced – publications, articles, lectures – and that also works as a platform for users to share opinions and ask questions to the team and other AIS users; training center, that provides live or distance training for surgeons through the AIS Immersion Experience technology, where the most advanced  surgical procedures are  shown, step by step, in video format; and live event, where you can watch live surgeries and lectures, and allows questions and comments online.

This channel, the first of its kind, is having a great acceptance among worldwide surgical community, with 50,000 new subscriptions in the first month after its release. Moreover, the courses are being exceptionally successful, with all available dates fully booked.
